We forgot to mention it, but the Long Island Culture & Wine Winterfest got underway February 8 and runs through the middle of March.  If you’re looking for a fun weekend away from the city, within range of a short drive or L.I.R.R. ride, you’ll definitely want to check this promotion out.  Dozens of island hotels and B&Bs are offering discounted rates, many wineries are offering tasting discounts and free jazz shows, and a bunch of municipalities are presenting theater and music productions.
